History
When Richard (Tack) Ness was 14 years old he worked at the local pharmacy. The pharmacist always asked him if you would go to school to become a pharmacist, but day after day Tack knew that wasn’t what he wanted. On his way home from school he walked by the local gas station and dreamed of someday owning it. After graduating from High school he went into the army. Upon returning home he went to work at the gas station he once dreamed of owning. After a few years at the age of 20 he was given the opportunity to buy into the gas station. When he went home to tell his mother he was going to buy a business that was at that time called Thistle and Brown, she cried on his shoulder and told him he would never make it and he shouldn’t do it. Like most children Tack didn’t listen to his mother and bought it anyway. A few years later he purchased the other half of the business from Pat Brown and was joined in partnership with two of his brothers Don and Charlie in 1973. At that time they owned the Full Service gas station and sold bulk fuel oil for home heating. In 1983 they added Used cars to the business and from there it only grew. In 1992 Tacks son Craig graduated from technical college and joined the business as a technician. Over the years he worked in all aspects of the dealership from the Service Department, Parts Department, office, and Sales. In January 2009 bought in as a partner in the business when Don retired. As much as some things change many remain the same….It’s still about the Service.
